Approximately 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland were left without power on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems impacted the region, bringing powerful gusts topping 109km/h.

Massive Ice Stones and Extensive Impact

Homeowners witnessed large ice chunks as large as seven centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by significant hail.

Emergency crews were working to restore power throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews activated to address the numerous electricity disruptions.

Victorian Weather Woes

At the same time, approximately 1,000 households in Victoria also faced energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.

Emergency response teams handled nearly 600 calls for help across the region, primarily for structural issues but also for fallen timber and inundation.

At one point on yesterday, over 28k power users in Victoria were experiencing outages.

Humid circumstances were expected to linger along much of eastern Queensland this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.

Tomorrow was predicted as the most rainy day, with persistent storm activity predicted across various areas of both states.

Public health experts alerted that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
