The Seattle Seahawks engineered a remarkable fightback to overcome the Los Angeles Rams in extra time, clinching their place in the NFL play-offs.

Overcoming a sixteen-point deficit in the final period, the Seahawks emerged victorious by a single point at home, registering their fifth consecutive win.

While the Rams had become the first to earn a playoff berth earlier on Sunday, the Seahawks booked their return to the postseason after a two-year hiatus.

With this outcome, the Seattle now lead their division's race with a twelve and three mark, replacing the Rams, who fell to the number five seed with an 11-4 standing.

Signal-caller Sam Darnold had two interceptions but regrouped to make two touchdown passes, including the tying score to star receiver Smith-Njigba in the extra period.

The Rams held a six-point lead at the break before Walker burst through for a 55-yard scoring dash for the home side.

Rams defensive back Josh Wallace then took back Darnold's first pick for 56 yards, setting up a short score by Corum on the ensuing snap.

In the final stanza, a scoring pass from Matthew Stafford to Puka Nacua pushed the Rams' lead to sixteen points, but Rashid Shaheed provided the hope with a spectacular punt return.

Darnold then connected with AJ Barner in the endzone, and a successful two-point play sent the game into an extra period.

Although Puka Nacua scored for his another touchdown in OT, Jaxon Smith-Njigba responded in kind to set up the game-winning score.
